TPB #10 – Multi-Flash Board

Posted by:

This episode is about the new multi-flash board and how it allows you to safely connect many flashes or cameras to the Camera Axe. It goes through how this works and how you can daisy chain these boards to allow unlimited numbers of flashes.

Here’s the forum post about people making their own multi-flash boards from my schematics.

Here’s my store where I sell this board.

You have done some amazing bullet time photography. I have been thinking about doing some of this for high speed things. For example I’ve never seen a bullet time video of a splashing water droplet. That said I doubt anything I do would look anywhere as good as your work. However, I am happy to be a technologist that can take mediocre photos. Especially if it enables artists like you to make truly great photos.

Anyways I do think the Camera Axe would work for this use case. To trigger 256 cameras you would need need to fan out the multiple flash boards like this: 1->4->16->64. If you only wanted to support 100 it would look like this: 1->4->16->25 or 46 multiflash boards.

You would want to do a smaller scale test to make sure everything works smoothly first, but I can’t see why it wouldn’t and if you run into issues let me know and I can support you.

I don’t understand what you mean by “the trigger system i use is analog”. It is probably a language issue since that doesn’t make sense to me. It would be good if I could understand your current system to make sure the Camera Axe addresses any shortcomings of your current system.

PS – If you don’t mind, may I ask what software you use to interpolate between key frame photos?

      Hello Maurice!
Please email me (info@hatzakisphotogrphy.com) to reply you
some photos to better understand the rig and cables etc.
Also we want to trigger the cameras with some delay from each other to achieve slow motion effect
      Is it possible?
